Consent mechanism · For Twilio review
How end-users consent to receive messages
End users consent to receive messages through the theNeedle mobile application or website; they do not initially enroll by sending an unsolicited SMS keyword.
Subscriber opt-in. A registered theNeedle subscriber signs in, opens Notification Settings, enters their own mobile number, and affirmatively checks an unchecked SMS-consent checkbox. The checkbox is not pre-selected. The consent disclosure next to the checkbox states that the user agrees to receive recurring automated transactional SMS notifications from theNeedle, a product of Crescentic LLC, including priority-email alerts, account notifications, security notifications (such as password, email-address, or mobile-number changes), and service or support notifications. It also states that message frequency varies, message and data rates may apply, and the user may reply STOP to opt out or HELP for assistance. After checking the box, the user selects Verify and Enable SMS and enters a one-time verification code sent to the mobile number. SMS notifications are enabled only after the code is verified.
Escalation-contact opt-in. A subscriber may invite a trusted personal accountability partner (for example, a partner, family member, friend, or coach) to receive escalation alerts. The invited person receives an email invitation and must personally accept the role on a theNeedle acceptance page, enter and verify their own mobile number, and check a separate unchecked SMS-consent checkbox before any SMS escalation alert is sent. A subscriber cannot enroll another person on their behalf; the invited person must provide their own mobile number and consent.
Consent records. We retain the mobile number, date and time of consent, consent method, consent-language version, notification scope, and the associated account or escalation-contact identifier for each opt-in.
SMS consent is optional and is not a condition of creating an account, purchasing a subscription, connecting an email account, or using theNeedle. Users may withdraw consent at any time by replying STOP or by disabling SMS in Notification Settings.

Program description
Crescentic LLC uses theNeedle to send non-marketing SMS account and service notifications to registered theNeedle subscribers and separately opted-in personal accountability contacts.
Subscribers may receive priority-email alerts, account or security notifications (including password, email-address, or mobile-number changes), and service or support notifications. Messages may also notify a subscriber when theNeedle identifies a time-sensitive or consequential email or account communication that may require attention, such as notices involving deadlines, cancellations, payments, account access, legal or administrative actions, appointments, recoveries, benefits, or other communications where a delayed response may have consequences.
An escalation contact is a trusted person the subscriber chooses to help them maintain accountability — for example, a partner, family member, friend, or coach. Escalation contacts are not Crescentic employees or operations staff. They receive accountability alerts only after personally accepting an email invitation on a theNeedle acceptance page and providing their own SMS consent. A subscriber cannot enroll another person as an escalation contact; the invited person must accept the invitation and verify their own mobile number.
SMS notifications are intended to direct the recipient back to theNeedle or the relevant connected account to review and handle the underlying communication.
theNeedle does not send third-party advertising, direct-lending content, age-gated content, or unrelated promotional messages through this SMS program. No promotional, lending, or age-gated content is sent.
How to opt in
You must be a signed-in theNeedle subscriber to enroll yourself.
To opt in:
- Sign in to your theNeedle account.
- Open Notification Settings.
- Enter a valid mobile number.
- Select the separate SMS consent checkbox, which is unchecked by default.
- Select Verify and Enable SMS.
- Enter the verification code sent to your mobile number to confirm that you control the number.
SMS consent is optional and separate from acceptance of the theNeedle Terms of Service. It is not required to create an account, purchase a subscription, connect an email account, or otherwise use theNeedle. Subscribers cannot enroll another person on their behalf; each person must provide their own mobile number and consent.
SMS notifications are enabled only after the mobile number is successfully verified. A new verification is required when a mobile number is first added or changed.
Enrollment confirmation
After successful verification and enrollment, theNeedle sends the following confirmation message:
"theNeedle by Crescentic LLC: You are enrolled to receive transactional SMS notifications when theNeedle identifies a time-sensitive or consequential message that may require your attention. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to opt out."
Escalation contacts
A subscriber may invite a trusted person they choose to receive accountability alerts as an escalation contact. This is a personal relationship — the escalation contact is someone the subscriber asks to help them follow through on important obligations, not a Crescentic employee, operations person, or customer-support agent. Escalation contacts receive accountability alerts only; they do not receive general account or priority-email notifications unless they are also a subscriber.
The invited person must personally accept the email invitation on a theNeedle acceptance page and verify their own mobile number before any SMS accountability alerts are sent. A subscriber cannot enroll another person on their behalf.
Escalation contact consent is separate from the subscriber's own SMS consent and may be revoked by the escalation contact at any time by replying STOP to an accountability alert or by declining the invitation.
For assistance, escalation contacts may reply HELP or use the Crescentic LLC contact form below.
Escalation invitation example

"theNeedle by Crescentic LLC: You have accepted an invitation to receive accountability alerts as an escalation contact. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to opt out."
